introduction

For many years the Friedrich-Bodeker-Kreis in Saxony-Anhalt /Germany/ has made an effort to promote reading. As a special form of that purpose it facilitates also meetings between pupils and foreign autors with their books. This way the project "EUROGLOTT" came into being.

The book "A dove calling" of the bulgarian autor Ivan Roidov is a product that has developed starting from the real intention of this project. Six-languages-book, six cultures, and now about half the world can read Ivan Roidov's poems.

nobody

You ask me again who I am.
Wouldn't it be better to be nobody?
A dove calling for reciprocity,
Rain blown into an open window,
A breath warming up
My frozen hands in the icy morning,
A ripple left by the waves in the sand…
To be the one, with whom
You were simply happy.

men

The men are drinking schnapps in the pub.
The sun is shining in the glasses,
But in their eyes something else glints,
That makes the man's voices strong.
They clench their fists
And their blows sound from the tables.
The men will change the world!
But soon the schnapps has run out
And the sun sets in the empty glasses.
The fists lie still and later
They pull money out of their pockets.
The landlord with his sneaky smile
Comes in order to prove once again
That this world remains unchanged.

counterpoint

The borders close off
Time and space.
Counterpoints are the bird's flight
And the poet's thoughts.
What a flight,
What a regular movements,
What elevation, my God,
What elevation!
When the borders
Are closed again,
The birds fall to the earth
And poets change into officials.
