When you look at someone, his/her silhouette forms in your mind suddenly. The first thing that describes him/her is the "silhouette". Well, what about a city, Istanbul; what she tells you? Everybody feel something different. There are so many mosques, buildings, bridges and in between, a lonely tower named "Kýzkulesi" breaks through this order.

Kýzkulesi was constructed above a little rocky island in the Bosphorus, in the XIInd century by Byzantine Emperor Manuelos Komnenos to tie the great iron chains laying between Anadolu and Rumeli to prevent and restrict the ship-crossings over the Bosphorus. Her name had called as "Kýzkulesi" because there he locked his daughter Leandra to punish her. She had been used as prison so many times after that time. After the conquest of Istanbul, a wooden tower had been constructed over the ruins of the demolished tower. A torch had been lit over her to guide the ships. After burning of this tower, a new stone tower had been built in place of her.
